A comprehensive 2-3* year course covering everything from foundational to advanced, traditional & digital applications. Everyhthing taught LIVE & IN DEPTH to help you share your story with the world with competence & confidence!!
*Optional 3rd year focus: THINGS THEY WON'T TEACH IN ART SCHOOLS!!...HOW TO MAKE MONEY & GO PRO!! (the business of being an art professional!! Max 10/class. To be considered for the 3rd year student must have either completed yr 2 instruction or the year equivalent of a Masterclass & have a portfolio by the director & dean of Ka-Pow!! Students may bypass foundational yr 1 & be accepted directly into 2nd yr if approved by the director & dean following an interview & portfolio review.

Born on the Southside of Chicago, D.R. "Solo" Gayleson is completely self-taught & has been a professional artist & animator since the age of 14 when he was first hired as a t-shirt designer for a local screenprinter. After being HONORABLY discharged from the U.S. Army, he soon found himself working as a Chicago Police officer, married with four children, & fully 'ADULTING'. Though life was good, comics & animation were his passion & he longed to grow to a professional level as an artist in 'The Comic Arts.' He began searching for accessible, affordable, specific, yet comprehensive learning but couldn't find anything that checked the 'boxes' to fit his needs. After years of honing his skills & becoming an industry artist he never forgot how hard it was to simply learn in a convenient, affordable, & structured way & he knew he couldn't be the only one in the world with this issue. So to answer this dilemma & Ka-Pow!! The Comic Arts Academy was born!! Our mission: To provide affordable high quality instruction in the "Comic Arts" for anyone seeking direction regardless of their goals as an artist!! During his creative formative years Solo interned at a local Emmy Award winning animation studio working on such projects as Animaniacs, Batman The Animated Series, and others. He's done freelance work for Marvel, Upper Deck, & video game developers. He's taught comics years 1,2,& 3 for the International School of Comics: Chicago, and was even hired by Google to teach their worldwide staff the 'Joys of the comic-craft.' He's currently president & Head Art Director of HonorStudios Entertainment, a faith inspired creative house (that's been referred to as 'The Christian version of Marvel') specializing in high-end action/adventure & fantasy content with several show pitches, graphic novels, & the highly reviewed & anticipated board game 'War In Paradise: Insurrection' nearing release. When not drawing, Solo's a respected minister & sought after relationship & productivity mentor/coach along with his wife of 27 years, LaToya. So whether you aspire to be an industry professional or simply improve your skills or desire to share your unique creative story with world, Solo & Ka-Pow!! The Comic Arts Academy are ready to help you level up!!

Brian Atkins is an American Comic Artist and Illustrator out of St. Louis. He's the proud & devoted father of two amazing boys that are constantly keeping him on his toes. He's worked on such projects as G.I. Joe comics and games by IDW/ Renegade Games/ Hasbro. His work has extended into the video game industry having worked for developers like Playful Studios on their highly anticipated & innovative epic 'WILDCARD'!! He's worked on a list of licesned properties & toys for heavy hitters such as Marvel!
Brian is also well versed in independent publication having produced several multiple creator owned properties such as 'The Family Graves' by Source Point Press, 'Final Street ' by Devil's Due, and 'Blood on the Tracks' by Brain Cloud Comics.
Brian brings wealth of knowledge, experience, & expertise along with a great attitude and deep desire to help others reach their creative goals in the comic arts.
